April 22nd, New Zealand Day 7

Hereunder are the photos I took on my seventh day of travel in New Zealand.

This was a morning mist that we saw by Lake Matheson the morning we were driven there. The creatures in the foreground are cows. Posted by Hello

This is a photo of what I call the 2 brother mountains, Mount Tasman and Aoraki/Mount Cook, the Cloud Piercer. They are the 2 highest peaks in New Zealand, with Aoraki/Mount Cook the higher of the two. Posted by Hello

This photo, is exactly the same as the next one, but it is more true to the ambient light present that morning. Posted by Hello

This is another photo which I think shows the extent of the mist on the lake more clearly. Posted by Hello

This is the reflection of Mount Tasman and the Cloud Piercer on the calm, mist covered, waters of Lake Matheson. Mount Tasman is the one on the left and Aoraki is the one on the right. Posted by Hello

This is a wide shot showing Mount Tasman and Aoraki/Mount Cook. Posted by Hello

This, and the next 2 photos, form a small panorama of the view upon exiting Lake Matheson. Aoraki/Mount Cook and Mount Tasman can be seen together in the third photo. Posted by Hello

This is the Clocktower at the entrance to the town of Hokitika. This settlement is known for its workshops in the famous pounamu of the South Island. Posted by Hello

This is the surf on the beach at Hokitika. The foam you see is the phenomenon that I believe to be known as "stampeding horses". The surf, quite spectacular, is much stronger than anywhere I've seen in Canada. Posted by Hello

This is the Arthur's Pass, which cuts across the South Island. The road below was opened in 1999 because the old road kept dislocating and sliding down the mountain. Posted by Hello
